CCTV Alarm

If your CCTV requirement is simply for the viewing of live or recorded CCTV images then in all probability a basic camera specification will provide the solution, subject to image views and quality criteria.

Where there is a pre-requisite, either for logging specific events and alerts, or providing an indication of activity in designated areas of view, some sort of CCTV alarm mechanism needs to be incorporated within the system design.

CCTV alarm events and alerts can be created using different technologies. To date, the most utilised method of motion detection has been through the use of detection devices, I.E. PIR sensors and Fixed Beams. Latterly, digital recording technology introduced built in motion detection capability by using a grid overlay system incorporated into the software, where individual segments of the grid are programmed to indicate a CCTV alarm event if motion occurs within the field of view. Both technologies have been used to great effect, especially within systems that require remote monitoring of images where an end user or operator at a Remote Video Response Centre requires notification of a CCTV alarm event.

However, the CCTV industry is now undergoing a series of progressive technological changes, not least of which is the expansion of Video Analysis (analytics), which hugely enhance the effectiveness and capability of CCTV alarm and event recording and greatly improve detection reliabilty. Without doubt, the future of logging and recording of CCTV alarm events will incorporate the use of analytics.

As a specialist installer of CCTV, especially in the sector of remote monitored CCTV alarm systems, Alertsystems are ideally placed to advise, design and specify these solutions.
